MEET JUDGE YANTA AFTER THE BUTTERFLY GARDEN TOUR ON TUESDAY AT THE VILLA
Carolyn and Carlos Resendez are hosting a get-together at The Villa at 4848 East Beverly Mae on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the judge, otherwise known as our neighbor, Renée Yanta on Betty Lou. She is running for re-election to the 150th District Court in Bexar County. As background, she taught in public school for nine years, practiced law for
24 years and then decided on a new direction. She has presided over the 150th District Court for the past almost seven years.
She is also the founder and presiding judge of a therapeutic court for teenage girls in the foster-care system, the PEARLS Court, which combines trauma-informed care, life-skill training, mentoring and “tough love” and which has produced remarkable outcomes. As a hands-on volunteer, she helps at Threads, a boutique for foster children, and she has started a teen-pregnancy-prevention program in the Harlandale ISD.
