Get out your flags and your red, white and blue. In less than a month, we’ll have our annual Fourth of July
parade with a wonderful cookout of hot dogs, mustard and watermelon and other Independence Day fare.
To beat the heat, the parade will start at 9:30 a.m. from the triangle park at the intersection of Betty Lou and West Beverly Mae. We hope the Fire Department folks and our SAFE Officer will be on hand to make the parade
louder and more festive, but this will depend, of course, on there being no immediate emergencies for them to attend to.
We all gather at the DEERC Grounds (The old clubhouse grounds at 6800 Dorothy Louise Drive) after the parade for hotdogs and other goodies.

I wish I could have the porch party that I usually have, but age has caught me without the ability to prepare for that event that I so enjoyed–there were 39 here last year, but I shall sit in one of the rockers on the porch and wave my flag and smile. Juanita Souder
