Dear Neighbors,
You may recall our Board meeting last week was to discuss the proposed ingress from WBM onto the property at 2140 Babcock. Representatives for the building were there to discuss their proposal. Councilman Nirenberg also attended the meeting and was very helpful in fielding questions. We had a good representation from the neighbors in Dreamhill Estates, especially those that are being impacted the most living on that stretch of WBM near Babcock.
Their proposal was, to make that ingress (that was started and not finished) a one-way onto their property from WBM. The exits would still be the two driveways onto Babcock. If we were to decline this proposal, it would be left up to the building owner and contractor to close the construction site up at their expense.
After the gentlemen representing the building and CM Nirenberg left, we had a discussion over accepting the proposal. Several good points were brought up. As a result, it was voted to “NOT” accept their proposal. A letter was sent to CM Nirenberg stating so and requesting the construction site be closed up, install the sidewalk, curb, and landscape to its original state.
At this point the building owner’s option is to file a variance or do nothing more than close the site. We will have to wait and see what happens next. I am in touch with our District 8 office as to when action will begin closing the site. After the January Board meeting minutes have been reviewed and approved at the next Board meeting (February 27), they will be posted on the website.
In closing, I want to thank all the neighbors and Board members again for making a good showing!
Sincerely yours,
Vicki Chew
DENA President
